With this nifty gadget, you can make your own 3D creations out of various types and colors of plastic. All you need to do is power it up, load it with a strand of plastic and you’re good to go! Your child can let their creative side come out to play!
Who Would Play with the 3Doodler Pen?
Older kids with an artistic bent would find 3Doodler a fascinating way to use their creative skills. It’s not a toy for young children, as the metal tip gets hot, and the plastic must heat up. Considering those facts, this 3D pen is recommended for ages 12 and above.
And it’s not just for kids! Anyone that loves 3D printing, or would like to try it and been scared off because of the expense will be happy to see how much cheaper the 3Doodler is. By using this 3D printing pen a person can get started in this hobby without breaking the bank.

What makes this 3D drawing pen so great?
First off, it’s a lot of fun drawing your own creations in thin air! And it’s a whole lot more affordable than buying the regular 3D printers.
It’s much simpler and cheaper since you only need to buy the pen itself and the plastic sticks that serve as the “ink” for the pen.
Although the pen is bulky looking, it isn’t hard to use. It fits comfortably in your hand, and doesn’t feel that heavy. It’s easy to draw with it and make 3D designs.

The Downside. . .
Even though most people can hold this 3D pen easily, others may not care for the hefty size of the pen. It might be nice if it was slimmer, but I can see how it would be hard to do so since it has to heat the plastic inside the pen.
A longer electrical cord would also be a nice touch. If you don’t have an outlet close to where you are working, it’s necessary to use an extension cord.
They may have a battery operated 3D printing pen in the future, but I’m not sure how they’ll keep from making the pen even bulkier if they add batteries.
These are minor aggravations however, considering the opportunity this 3D drawing pen presents for a new way to get artistically creative.
How Much & Is It Worth The Money?
The 3Doodler can be purchased for about $99 to $199 . The media used — the plastics – have various price points depending on the type, colors, and strands.
Considering this 3D pen is a way to make 3D printing cheaper and more readily available to people, it’s a great buy. It presents a new artistic medium that is downright fun to try!
