Story Behind The Lego Ninjago Lightning Dragon Battle

For a little background, the storyline for the Lightning Dragon Battle set is about the ninja Sensei Wu. He was captured by Kruncha and Frakjaw. They also took the nunchucks of lightning, and flew off with their stolen treasures in their helicopter

Now it’s all up to the Lightning Dragon and Jay to figure out a way to save Sensei Wu and get the weapons back before the bad guys can escape to the underworld. This will be tough, because the helicopter is equipped with a number of different weapons.

Bottom Line: Is The Lego Ninjago Lightning Dragon Battle Set Worth Buying?

What kid (and a whole lot of grown-ups) doesn’t like Ninjas? They’re way cool martial arts fighters who are top notch in combat. And they are great at the stealth mode, so their enemies don’t even know they are there until it’s too late!

The story is a classic good vs. evil, with the good ninja Sensei Wu working to protect the town against his evil brother. This latest set is a new chapter in the story.

The Ninjago minifigures have excellent detail. From Sensei Wu’s wise-looking beard to Kruncha’s scary face and skeleton body – these are like no other Lego minifigures before them. Some characters are featured in other sets on the Ninjago range, but they often include subtle differences (such as different weapons or coloring).

Then there is the models themselves – both the skeleton helicopter and the Lightning Dragon look fabulous once you’ve put them together.

On the Down Side

Building the models is a challenge, but not too difficult for kids between the ages of 8 and 14. Once building is complete, there are spaces for the minifigures to fit inside the helicopter or on top of the Lightning Dragon as kids recreate the famous battle.

Of course, the most notable downside about this set is the price. It doesn’t come cheap. However, it’s a matter of “you get what you pay for.” When you take into consideration just how much you get from this set – 645 pieces total, to make a helicopter and a dragon – the cost isn’t too bad at all. And the set is certainly unique!

In short, if you have a child who is already into the Ninjago Lego range, then there’s no doubt this will be a welcome addition to their collection. If not, it’s still a very high quality limited addition toy that any Lego fan will be happy to play with. The only thing you need to watch out for is whether it stays in stock over the holiday period. If your child would like the Lego Ninjago Lightning Dragon Battle Set, better grab it early!
